Researcher/Engineer for the project in the area of
Life Cycle Analysis of new materials

(full-time or part-time)


dealing primarily but not exclusively with the task in our project RessFAST Improving of Material Efficiency by Means of the Resource-Efficient Manufacturing of Components Made out of Aluminum, Steel, Titanium
(Steigerung der Materialeffizienz durch ressourceneffiziente Fertigung für Bauteile aus Aluminium, Stahl, Titan):

 The successful candidate should:

  • understand and be able to practically apply the principles of modern materials engineering
  • be or quickly become familiar with the concept of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
  • have experience or be ready to learn about modern LCA tools (primarily GaBi and SimaPro, see www.gabi-software.com and https://simapro.com/)   

The applicants' profiles to be considered are:

  • Mechanical, Process, Materials or Chemical Engineers, with some IT-skills and/or interest in LCA
  • Software Engineers (IT), with engineering skills and/or interest in the area of LCA
The successful candidate should:
  • have an academic/engineering degree or be working towards i
  • possess analytical skills and be motivated to learn and cope with new research issues
  • be fluent in English (certification on TOEFL, GRE or other comparable test is an advantage), good knowledge of German is necessary

IT Application Engineers

dealing with:

  • Maintenance and further development of the R-Tech/EU-VRi software systems (mainly those in the area of risk management) and,
  • Development of methods and IT tools in the areas of engineering risk management, web semantics, data mining and uncertainty analysis (applicable in, e.g. power and process industry and insurance). 

The successful candidates are expected to be involved in the management the basic IT structure (active directory service, user and computer management, basic server-hardware and software, MS-SQL servers, web-servers...).
The applicants' profiles should ideally include:

  • Proven IT knowledge (e.g. MS certificates)
  • Experience with databases (e.g. MS SQL-Server)
  • Experience in programming (e.g. VB.NET)
  • Motivation to learn and tackle new issues
  • Proficiency in English (e.g. TOEFL, GRE or similar)
  • Knowledge of German and/or other languages can be of benefit, but is not essential
